CRIZMAC’s Stevie Mack and SchoolArts’ Nancy Walkup

This CRIZMAC tour is organized and led by Stevie Mack and Nancy Walkup. The President and Founder of CRIZMAC Art and Cultural Education Materials, Inc., Stevie Mack has led exceptional trips to both domestic and international destinations for over twenty years. She joined forces with Nancy Walkup, editor of SchoolArts magazine in 2010, to offer tours. The dynamic duo offers participants a blend of their many talents, while always including a good dose of fun. Highly organized and committed to your satisfaction, they attend to all of the details that make for a very educational and enjoyable experience. In addition to providing some of the lectures, they have selected outstanding artists to enrich your experience.

Stevie holds an M.A. in Art Education from the University of Arizona. She taught art in the public schools for 13 years, and also served as a resource teacher for her district. During this time, Stevie received several grants for curriculum development and, in 1989, was awarded outstanding art educator in Arizona. In 1985, she formed CRIZMAC, a publishing company committed to the development and publication of comprehensive art education resources.

In addition to editing SchoolArts, a magazine for art educators published since 1901, Nancy Walkup is a contributing author to Explorations in Art, Davis Publications’ elementary textbook series.

Nancy's teaching experience covers all grade levels from kindergarten through graduate school. A highlight of her career includes serving as project coordinator for ten years for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, a national art education initiative funded in part by the Getty Institute and the Annenberg Foundation. Nancy was also the chair for the 2001 National Art Education Association conference.

Nancy's recent honors include serving as an invited teacher at an elementary school in Beijing, China; selection for the Japanese Fulbright Memorial Teacher program in 2008; and being named 2007 Teacher of the Year for her campus. She has won numerous awards from the art education associations of Louisiana and Texas as well as the National Art Education Association, and most recently, Elementary Art Educator of the Year, TAEA, 2010.

Stevie and Nancy have published widely, both together and individually, and have produced numerous award-winning video programs and curriculum resources.
